Paul Laidlaw

Director

Paul has been at SBT Engineering for over 30 years, coming through from the shop floor and first contact sales to the position of Director. Paul’s speciality is water treatment works refurbishment, and his knowledge and expertise of refurbishing equipment is highly regarded. Paul will frequently be found on a treatments works somewhere in the UK offering guidance and support in how best to repair and maintain the equipment that is typically the backbone of the treatment process.  In Pauls downtime he is a keen football fan and is either attending home matches or travelling the country supporting the away fixtures of his local team.

Steve Birch

Director

Steve has over 30 years’ experience covering design engineering, petrochemical plant maintenance and production plant upgrades. He has operated as both customer and contractor across a broad range of industries and relishes the challenge from both sides. From early on in his engineering journey, Steve has always taken great satisfaction in finding solutions to mechanical refurbishment problems on tired and aged equipment across a broad spectrum of customers sites and industries.  Out of work Steve enjoys watching motorsport and property renovation.

Matt Bickerton

Director

Matt has travelled the world from North America to the Far East, with 30 years in engineering, first with the Royal Navy then later as a worldwide service engineer & Service Manager for specialist filtration manufacturer’s primarily in the Pharmaceutical, Chemical & Specialty product industries. Installation, refurbishment & upgrading of high value capital equipment, Matt’s attention to detail when rebuilding precision equipment is invaluable when applied to refurbishing rotating equipment in our fully equipped workshops. In his spare time, he likes nothing more than getting out on his bike and exploring the rolling countryside across the North of England.

Dave Addy

Design Manager

Dave cut his teeth as a first-generation CAD designer, and he has gone from strength to strength ever since.  His skills on a CAD machine, coupled with his vast technical knowledge, let alone his 30 years of design experience, make him the focal point of any design-based solution that SBT undertake.  He manages to immediately see solutions to problems presented before him and simply designs the solution before most of his peers have understood the issues.  Daves downtime mostly revolves around food, on the quiet, he’s an expert chef who enjoys the prep as much as the eating.
